It is an essential amino acid, an important functional component of many enzymes, which promotes effective digestive processes. L-histidine is used in fish for protein synthesis and to support metabolic and immune function, growth and repair, protection of nerve cells, and the synthesis of white and red blood cells.
L-histidine has been shown to be the most stimulating substance for carp in cold waters during the winter, below 14 degrees Celsius.
It is found primarily in fish and bottom-dwelling benthic aquatic organisms; larval forms and worms such as bloodworms, tubifex worms, etc.
