A lead system with the self-hooking qualities of an in-line and the casting characteristics of a lead clip, yet incorporating all their safety benefits.
COG, short for center of gravity, refers to the unique way the rig is connected to the heaviest part of the lead, providing an instant and unparalleled hook-up. Simply put, this system is designed to convert more hooks into landing nets.
When should you use it? Well, it's best used on gravel, sand, or solid silt lake beds rather than weedy beds, where it's best to use the Heli-Safe system for maximum safety. It can be cast just as well as a standard lead clip system, although when fishing at long range, it loses its effectiveness when combined with any PVA bag, due to the impact in the water and the resulting detachment of the half-swivel from the lead. For margin fishing or casting from a boat, the COG is simply unrivaled.
